The first heat wave of the summer says goodbye in the next few hours, leaving temperatures that will go down in history.
To begin with, the record for heat measured in Spain: the Cordovan town of Montoro marked 47.4ºC on Saturday, a record that has already been validated by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
The Montoro-Vega Armijo station (Córdoba), which is not part of Aemet's main network, exceeded its previous record of July 13, 2021 by 0.1 ºC. According to Aemet, this temperature becomes the highest registration registered in Spain considering the stations of the main network and the modern network of automatic stations of the State Meteorological Agency.
The previous record in Spain measured by the stations of the main network of the Aemet had also been registered in the province of Córdoba, specifically in the station of its airport, which
on July 13, 2017 marked 46.9 ºC.
This same record was repeated last Saturday.
As the spokesperson for Aemet, Rubén del Campo, has reviewed on August 13, 14 and 15, the most torrid days of the heat wave that has affected the entire country, numerous temperature records have been broken.
In some stations such as Cuenca, its previous record in 2021 (39.7 ºC on August 10, 2012) was surpassed or equaled by two or three days.
Thus, Cuenca registered 41.5ºC on Friday, 41.1ºC on Saturday and 40.7ºC on Sunday.
Steamy nights
During this heat wave, the nights hardly took a breather.
They were sweltering in much of the country and this has resulted in record low temperatures.
Thus, on Friday the Jaén station broke its record of 30 ºC on August 1, 2003 by registering 30.2 ºC.
On Saturday, two Madrid stations broke their night heat records: Getafe, with 26.6ºC and the Madrid-Retiro station, with 26.1ºC.
Its previous record records were 26 ° C and 26.1 ° respectively.
