After being boycotted by Hollywood, Johnny Depp: Don't punish my movie because of me

American actor Johnny Depp said he is being subjected to a fierce boycott campaign, which is why his latest movie, Minamata, has not been released in America.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the actor stated that his reputation in the media stands in the way of distributing the film in America.

"Minamata" tells the story of a photojournalist named Eugene Smith, who documents the impact of industrial pollution on the residents of Minamata in the 1970s.

Deeb noted the importance of his film, saying: "Some films touch people, and this film particularly touches the people of Minamata, and they experienced the same conditions. Why, for Hollywood to boycott me?"

He added, "One actor in a bad, messy situation, is not worth the fatigue of all these years. The film deserves to be seen and supported, because we have a responsibility towards the victims."

The American "The Times" website stated that this is the first media interview conducted by Johnny Depp since his famous case against The Sun newspaper, which he eventually lost.

In 2018, Johnny Depp filed a lawsuit against The Sun newspaper, after it described him in an article as a "wife beater", while his ex-wife, Amber Heard, accused him of physically assaulting her, and "Depp" denied the charge.
