The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) held a virtual forum that brought together members of the boards of directors of civil theaters in all the emirates of the country, and a group of young national theatrical talents, to exchange visions and ideas to ensure the presentation of a copy that lives up to the emirate’s ambitions and theatrical energies, and is commensurate with the nature of the stage from "Dubai Festival for Youth Theater 2021" restores brilliance to the Emirati youth theater in light of the current conditions imposed by the "Covid-19" pandemic.

Fatima Al Jallaf, Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, explained that despite the return of a large part of cultural events to real life, they are still subject to some necessary precautions to ensure safety for all, and from here Dubai Culture decided to hold a “Festival Forum” Dubai Youth Theater 2021” to discuss what this session is in terms of content, form and new mechanisms that are in line with the requirements for the prevention of the “Covid-19” pandemic.

Al-Jalaf referred to the objectives of the forum, saying: “Based on our role as a sponsor of the cultural and creative sector in the emirate, and our responsibility towards providing a strong base for Emirati theater, especially youth, we realize the importance of harmony between theaters at the state level and cooperation between them and the authority in order to create high-level national theatrical works. It lives up to the ambition of the emirate in particular and the state in general, and keeps pace with global theatrical development. Hence, the organization of this recipient was aimed at creating cohesion between (Dubai Culture) and the local theaters in the UAE, and involving them in organizing the festival in a manner commensurate with the current social and economic conditions.”

She added: "We are always keen to benefit from youth energies by providing platforms to interact with them and listen to their ideas and visions, so we have provided the opportunity for a constellation of young theater talents to participate in this forum and put forward their proposals and views, in support of their position and our belief in the importance of these ideas and proposals in enriching the festival." and meet the aspirations of young playwrights who yearn to return to the stage of realistic theaters.

The participants in the forum, which was held via the “Zoom” program, presented a summary of their ideas within a positive atmosphere characterized by harmony and harmony, and it was agreed on several matters that serve this session of the festival, the most prominent of which was the new mechanism according to which the festival’s activities will take place in light of the pandemic, and determine the location and period of the festival. It will start on November 19, 2021, and run until November 25.

The participants also agreed on the topics of youth theatrical works that will participate in the festival, which was characterized by flexibility to be an open arena for the generation and implementation of ideas in an innovative and creative manner. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation and coordination between civil theaters and the authority in terms of organization and volunteering.

The session also touched on the forms of support provided by Dubai Culture in organizing the course's work, selecting texts and all creative aspects, in addition to defining the conditions that must be met by the participating works.

The participants in the forum praised the efforts made by "Dubai Culture" to ensure the continuity of the festival in an optimal manner, and to restore and activate the youth theater in all circumstances, and for its role in developing youth skills, nurturing and embracing promising talents, and inspiring them to continue their passion in the theatrical field, thus establishing the theater of the future. It elevates the Emirati theater scene to be part of the creative economy system.
