Once upon a time there was an elephant who lived locked up most of his life.

Its name is Kaavan: it is the last Asian elephant to live in Pakistan.

Very young, it was offered by Sri Lanka as a sign of friendship.

But the zoo that welcomes him does not take good care of him: his enclosure does not meet any international standard and the pachyderm develops mental disorders.

Alone for years, Kaavan becomes dangerous to himself and to others.

All over the world, petitions collect millions of signatures to save the animal.

In May 2020, the High Court of Islamabad adopted a historic decision: the zoo must close.

Kaavan is then sent to a Cambodian sanctuary to end his life in better conditions.

The full story of Kaavan and the fight for his liberation can be found in our partner Brut's video.
