On the morning of the 15th, a rubber boat with three high school students capsized off the coast of Fukuoka City and all were thrown into the sea, of which one 17-year-old high school boy died.

Police and others are investigating that the boat capsized due to the waves.

Around 10:40 am on the 15th, a person passing by in Aratsu, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka, reported to the fire department that a rubber boat had capsized offshore and a man was drowning.

The Japan Coast Guard, which was contacted by the fire department, set out a patrol boat and rescued a 17-year-old high school boy who was drowning in the sea about 200 meters offshore about an hour and a half later.

The high school student was taken to the hospital, but was soon confirmed dead.

The remaining two 16-year-old and 17-year-old high school boys swim to the land on their own and are not injured.

According to police and the Japan Coast Guard, three high school students went out to sea on a rubber boat 1 meter and 80 centimeters long from a nearby sandy beach, but it seems that they capsized near the rescued area.

The high school students who were safe said, "When I was playing, a high wave came and capsized," so the police and the Japan Coast Guard are investigating the detailed situation, assuming that the rubber boat capsized due to the waves.

According to the meteorological station, waves of 1.5 meters were observed at a wind speed of 10 meters at that time.
