The National Center for Global Health and Medicine has launched a large-scale infectious disease data bank that collects samples such as patient blood and treatment information in order to utilize it for research on new infectious diseases such as the new coronavirus. ..

In the future, we will collect data for 10,000 patients with the new corona and provide it to research institutes.

This data bank was launched by the National Center for Global Health and Medicine and the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, which was commissioned by the government, to advance research on treatments and prevention methods for new infectious diseases such as the new coronavirus. Operation started earlier this month.

In collaboration with about 50 medical institutions in Japan, we will collect blood samples, virus genetic information, and treatment information provided by patients with infectious diseases and provide them to universities and research institutes.

Data for about 200 patients with the new corona have already been registered, and for the time being, we are aiming to register data for 10,000 patients, so we plan to start providing data as early as this year.

Akira Sugiura, director of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, who is in charge, said, "The significance of these banks is great as prompt response is required for new infectious diseases. I want you to do it. "
