[Explanation] Zhengzhou City, Henan Province recently broke out a round of new crown pneumonia epidemic. In order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, closed-loop management has been implemented in urban communities.

Mickey, who lives in Quanwei Garden Community, took the initiative to join the ranks of community epidemic prevention volunteers. On the afternoon of August 13, he was on duty at the frontline of community epidemic prevention wearing a red vest, mask and holding a thermometer.

Here we are a family, and everyone in the family should help each other.

During this period of time, I feel that not many people are volunteers outside. I said there are few people, so I can come and help.

[Explanation] Mickey, 41, is a Canadian and a Chinese son-in-law. He currently works as a foreign teacher in a school in Zhengzhou.

Now he has another identity-a community epidemic prevention volunteer. On August 6, he signed up to participate in community epidemic prevention.

According to the arrangement, starting from the 10th, every day from 16:00 to 18:00 on duty.

Whenever a resident enters the community, he will use fluent Chinese to remind him to scan the health code and measure his temperature.

After the residents have completed the operation, he will also reach out to the community and enthusiastically say "Thank you for your cooperation, please come in."

I didn't expect that foreigners would come on their own initiative to help us fight the epidemic and share the responsibility, so I feel very moved.

In fact, I think (his) Chinese is very good, and the service attitude is also very good.

[Explanation] When talking about how to learn Chinese, Mickey introduced that his wife is Chinese and he has been married for almost 20 years. He learned Chinese while chatting with his wife, and he can even speak a few Henan dialects.

Wearing a mask, his hairstyle is close to a bald head, so that few residents can recognize the tall volunteer in front of him as a foreigner.

[Concurrent] Ms. Zhang, a resident of Quanwei Garden Community, Zhengzhou

I look like foreigners. Thank them very much for their contributions to our epidemic. It's good.

【Explanation】Because of longing for the ancient culture of Henan.

In June 2020, the Mickey family came to Zhengzhou to work and live. Although currently renting in the community, he thinks this is home.

[Explanation] During the period of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, Mickey "goes to the countryside as he does", wears a mask when he goes out, enters public areas to scan the health code and take his temperature. He also actively injected two injections of the Chinese-made new crown pneumonia vaccine.

In the face of the new crown pneumonia epidemic that has come back, Mickey said he is not afraid.

  [Concurrent] Mickey

I found that China will take care of this. I know it will be more difficult, but I feel safe here.

Now China has experience and knows how to manage it.

Now whether it is personal convenience or inconvenience, it is convenient for everyone, that's good.

[Explanation] Mickey said that as a foreigner living in China, I have enjoyed many convenient policies, so in the face of the epidemic, I call on everyone to help each other.

  [Concurrent] Mickey

I want to help each other. It should be everyone's contribution. So I hope that other foreigners will know about (the epidemic) and other foreigners will come to help.
