According to the British police, a 22-year-old man is responsible for the Plymouth bloodshed, which left six dead.

The man shot a woman in an apartment early Thursday evening and then fired indiscriminately at passers-by, said police chief Shaun Sawyer on Friday in the southern English port city.

First a “very young girl” and a man who was related to the child were killed, then a woman and another man.

At least two people were seriously injured.

Then the shooter shot himself.

Sawyer gave no information about the motif.

There is no suspicion of terrorism.

An eyewitness told the BBC that she heard screams and multiple gunshots.

The perpetrator kicked the door of a house and opened fire.

Then he ran away and shot people on the street.

Another witness described the perpetrator as a "black-clad guy with a shotgun".

In the early evening, the police said they had been called to a “serious incident involving firearms”.

The affected area in the Keyham district was temporarily cordoned off.

Both the police and rescue workers were in large numbers in the region in the early evening.

A local BBC reporter reported on countless emergency vehicles and helicopters.

The British Home Secretary Priti Patel called the act "shocking".

She called on residents to stay calm and follow the instructions of the police.

The head of the opposition Labor Party, Keir Starmer, spoke of a "tragedy".
