As the infection of the new coronavirus continues to spread rapidly, Kanagawa Prefecture will not be able to maintain the medical system as it is, and elderly people with chronic conditions will also seek home medical treatment if the oxygen level in the blood exceeds a certain level. For the time being, our policy is to tighten the criteria for determining the need for hospitalization.

Kanagawa Prefecture has set a standard for determining the need for hospitalization by scoring the risk of aggravation such as age and the presence or absence of chronic illness for infected persons with the new corona, but the usage rate of beds that can be used immediately due to the rapid increase in infected persons is More than 80% of people are in a state of being unable to be hospitalized even if their condition deteriorates.

For this reason, the prefecture will hold a meeting on the night of the 13th with people from medical institutions and health centers to tighten the criteria for hospitalization for the time being, and for those who have a blood oxygen level of 94% or more measured with a pulse oximeter. In principle, we have shown a policy of receiving medical treatment at home or at accommodation facilities.

Due to the change in standards, even elderly people with chronic illnesses who were previously judged to need hospitalization will be required to receive medical treatment at home in some cases.

After the meeting, Governor Kuroiwa said, "The citizens of the prefecture may be worried, but in the midst of the disaster of an infection explosion, it is a cliff-top situation where we can no longer say sweet things. I want you to understand that you need to work on it. "
