On August 13, 2021, the Shanghai Railway Transportation Court (hereinafter referred to as the Shanghai Railway Court) conducted a public hearing on the case of the defendants Guo Meimei and Wang Zouya selling poisonous and harmful food.

The public prosecution agency accused the defendants Guo Meimei and Wang Zouya from January and February 2021, respectively, when they knew that sibutramine might be illegally added to the diet candy sold by the previous Zhao (a separate case). Each is sold at a unit price of 699 yuan per box.

At the time of the case, the defendant Guo Meimei had sold more than 100 boxes of weight-loss candy and collected more than 70,000 yuan.

During the period, the defendant Guo Meimei also helped the defendant Wang Zouya place an order and pay for Zhao, and jointly sold 4 boxes of diet sweets, and received RMB 2,796.

After the incident, the public security organs detected sibutramine from the seized diet candy involved.

The public prosecution agency believed that the actions of the defendants Guo Meimei and Wang Zouya constituted the crime of selling toxic and harmful food.

During the trial, the defendants Guo Meimei, Wang Zouya and their lawyers defended against the allegations made by the public prosecution agency and fully exercised their relevant litigation rights.

After the trial is over, the Shanghai Railway Court will select a time for a sentence on the case.
