Wang Xuexin, a 58-year-old farmer in Dasiwang Village, Nangong City, Hebei Province, used his slack time to play a new "state" of the common sorghum poles in rural areas.

The sorghum rod-shaped handicrafts he made do not use glue or nails. They are completely connected to each other by card slots with an error of no more than one millimeter. The production principle draws on the mortise and tenon structure full of Chinese wisdom. The occlusion makes the sorghum stalk handicrafts integrated, not only exquisite, but also strong.

In recent years, Wang Xuexin has continuously researched all kinds of sorghum stalk lanterns, using colorful sorghum stalks to make various styles of folk-custom creative cultural products.

Nangong City vigorously promoted Wang Xuexin's sorghum rod weaving skills, and more than 500 farmers have embarked on the road to wealth through sorghum rod weaving.
