Changjiang Daily News (Reporter Liu Chenwei, Correspondent Xiao Lijiao) On August 9, Pan Yingchun, a professor of Wuhan University who was a 200-time unpaid blood donor, returned to the blood donation department of Wuhan Blood Center she was familiar with.
Unlike in the past, she came here as a volunteer this time, serving her daughter Deng Xiuqi, a prospective graduate student of the Institute of International Studies of Wuhan University.
Deng Xiuqi, 22, told reporters that this is her second blood donation. Participating in blood donation was influenced and inspired by her mother. “My mother has donated blood more than 200 times. She is amazing!” Deng Xiuqi recalled in the winter of 2008, 9 years old. She took a bus with her mother to the Wuhan Blood Center. That was the first time she saw her mother donate blood.
Although I was young at that time, the desire to "donate blood when I grow up" planted the seeds in my heart.
She explained: "Mom only has the left arm that meets the requirements for blood collection. It is a single-arm blood donation, which is more difficult, but she insisted on donating blood for many years without interruption."
As she grew older, Deng Xiuqi gradually learned some blood donation knowledge while accompanying her mother to donate blood. She learned that many patients need blood to save lives. She hopes that she can be like her mother and be a person who contributes to society. .
On July 18 this year, Deng Xiuqi overcame his fears and participated in the component blood donation for the first time, donating two therapeutic doses of platelets. As a memorial to her growth before graduate school, she said: "After donating blood once, I will do it again. I'm not afraid anymore."
On the morning of August 9, Deng Xiuqi successfully donated a therapeutic amount of platelets after a physical examination and laboratory tests.
When she donated blood, Pan Yingchun, a volunteer of the "Qin Yi Voluntary Component Blood Donation Team", covered her daughter with a blanket and chatted with her, as she did for other blood donors. A very happy thing".
Deng Xiuqi told reporters that he hoped that he could lead more people to dispel their worries and join the blood donation team.
The reporter learned that Deng Xiuqi was an excellent volunteer during his university years. He participated in the 7th World Military Games, Wuhan Marathon and other activities, and was awarded the title of "Excellent Volunteer" in the event.
She said that as long as her body permits, she will continue to donate blood and participate in charity activities.
During Deng Xiuqi's rest, Chen Hanwei, the business supervisor of the blood donation department of Wuhan Blood Center, stepped forward to express gratitude to Pan Yingchun for insisting on precepts and deeds.
Pan Yingchun told reporters that her daughter was affected by her subtle influence, which made her gratified and hoped that her daughter could continue this love.
Chen Hanwei introduced that despite the scorching summer, the enthusiasm of many caring people to donate blood free of charge could not be stopped.
