When you enter the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, the economic capital of the country, a statue welcomes you.

This statue represented a woman holding a broom.

Installed to magnify the fight of women for the development of the city of Sya.

But in 2010, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the country's independence, a new statue with a woman holding a torch replaced the old one.

Fruit of the struggle of women's associations.

Publicity

This statue has undergone metamorphosis, but many inhabitants of the city of Bobo-Dioulasso consider it a simple object of decoration, for lack of an explanatory campaign.
