On the same day, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam said in a meeting with reporters that Hong Kong is currently in the "window period" of the epidemic, which is the most conducive period for advancing the new crown vaccination. She hopes that citizens will seize the opportunity to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

  The 4 newly confirmed imported cases involved 3 men and 1 woman, aged between 31 and 60. All of them were asymptomatic. They arrived in Hong Kong from Germany, France, Thailand and the United States.

So far, the total number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong has increased to 1,2019.

  According to information released by the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, 2 of the newly confirmed patients had been vaccinated against Fubitel Covid-19 in Hong Kong, and one person had been vaccinated against Kexing Covid-19 in Hong Kong.

  On the same day, Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said when meeting with reporters that the fourth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong has ended, and the SAR government’s "foreign import prevention" measures are still very strict, hoping to block the virus from flowing into the local community.

She pointed out that Hong Kong is currently in the "window period" of the epidemic, which is the most conducive period for advancing the new crown vaccination. It is hoped that Hong Kong citizens will seize the opportunity to fight the epidemic and get the new crown vaccination as soon as possible.

  She also pointed out that as of the evening of August 9, about 3.5287 million Hong Kong citizens have received the first dose of the new crown vaccine, which accounts for about 51.9% of the eligible population. The situation still needs to be improved. It is hoped that citizens will continue to actively vaccinate.

  In addition, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority announced that as of 9 am, a total of 3 confirmed patients had been discharged from the hospital in the past 24 hours. So far, a total of 11,728 confirmed or suspected patients have recovered and discharged.

A total of 40 confirmed patients are in hospital, of which one is in serious condition and the remaining 39 are in stable condition.
