The entrance ceremony of Tohoku University, which was canceled last year due to the influence of the new coronavirus and was postponed, was held on the 9th.

The entrance ceremony of Tohoku University was canceled last year, and this has been postponed for four months, making it the first time it has been held.

At the venue, "Kamei Arena Sendai" in Taihaku-ku, Sendai City, about 2000 first-year undergraduate students who entered this year gathered.

As an infection control measure, we called for disinfection, kept the distance between the seats, and asked parents to watch the live stream, and the time was set to about 20 minutes, which is significantly shorter than usual.

President Hideo Ohno of Tohoku University introduced the activities of the graduates so far and encouraged them, "I want you to play an active role in each field after your research at Tohoku University."

On behalf of the new students, Ms. Mako Onuma of the Faculty of Letters stated her aspirations, "I will not be confused by the changing situation in Corona, but will increase my independence and devote myself every day with high aspirations."

Mr. Taki Nishimura, a first-year student in the Faculty of Engineering, said, "There were times when it was difficult to meet people online, but at the entrance ceremony, I would like to do my best again."

Last year, Tohoku University also held a ceremony for second-year undergraduate students who did not have an entrance ceremony on the 9th.
