The fourth wave on the rise?

The number of patients in critical care saw a further increase on Monday as well as hospital admissions where the bar of 9,000 patients was crossed for the first time since the end of June, according to figures published by Public Health France.

With 230 new critical care admissions in 24 hours, the number of patients in these services who treat the most serious cases reached 1,667, 111 more than the day before.

They were 1,232 a week ago.

Hospitals welcomed 9,022 people on Monday, including 833 admitted in the past 24 hours, the highest since June 27.

Between Sunday and Monday, 68 deaths from Covid-19 were recorded at the hospital, bringing the death toll to 112,318 since the start of the epidemic.

Health authorities report 5,775 new cases of Covid detected in 24 hours against 5,184 a week ago.

This indicator is lower on Monday due to a lower number of tests during the weekend.

The positivity rate rose slightly to 4.3%.

On the vaccination side, since the start of the campaign in France, 44,980,791 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 66.7% of the total population) and 37,514,388 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 55.6% of the total population).
