A Tunisian woman sparked controversy on social media after she proposed to her boyfriend, a businessman.

Activists on "Facebook" circulated pictures of the young woman, Reem Abdel-Nazer, a psychologist, as she appeared in an unusual scene carrying a bouquet of flowers and an engagement ring, in front of her lover's house, to ask for his hand from his family.

Writer Faten Al-Faza, a friend of Reem Abdel-Nazer, confirmed the news of the engagement, and said in this regard: "Reem submitted a marriage proposal to her boyfriend Karim and asked for his hand from his family."

She added: "To be successful, you have to be brave, accept risks, get rid of prevailing beliefs, and, if necessary, revolt against customs, because love is for the brave, as Nizar Qabbani said," as Nizar Qabbani said.

Many Tunisians on "Facebook" considered Reem Abdel-Nazer's behavior "courageous and daring and breaks the customs and complexities imposed by society."
