Trees uprooted by storms damaged cars and blocked a railway line in Lower Bavaria on Saturday evening.

Well over 100 emergency calls were received by the operations center of the police headquarters in Lower Bavaria.

According to the police, the focus of the storm front was in the Passau and Simbach am Inn area in the Rottal-Inn district.

The police have not yet been able to provide any information on the amount of damage caused by the storm.

In Passau and near Kirchdorf am Inn (Rottal-Inn district) there were two storm-related accidents with a slightly injured person, the police said. In Passau, a man broke his wrist when he drove his car into a tree in the street. A tree fell on a moving car near Kirchdorf am Inn. According to the police, the driver was able to jump out of her car in time and was uninjured.

Due to a fallen tree over the railway line between Munich and Simbach near Simbach am Inn, the track was temporarily closed, the police said. Fallen trees mainly caused damage to parked vehicles. In Zeilarn-Obertürken, also in the Rottal-Inn district, lightning struck a tree, which then burned down completely. There was heavy smoke development in the immediate vicinity of a settlement.
