The shrine in Futaba Town, Fukushima Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake, was rebuilt and the annual festival was held for the first time in 11 years.

The reconstructed building is "Nakano Hachiman Shrine" in the Nakano district of Futaba Town.

The tsunami caused great damage such as the shrine building being washed away leaving only the pedestal.

After that, due to the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, all the townspeople left the town and evacuated, and the area around the shrine was designated as an area where residence was restricted due to the high risk of tsunami, but they lived in the area. The reconstruction of the shrine has been underway in an attempt to regain the hearts and minds of those who were there.

On the 8th, the annual festival was held in the new shrine for the first time in 11 years, and the priests who lived in the nearby village dedicated the kagura that has been handed down to the district for more than 150 years.

According to the Fukushima Prefectural Shrine Office, this shrine also serves as a "gosaiden" where you can worship in place of other shrines that are difficult to rebuild or are in "difficult-to-return areas" due to the nuclear accident.

Mr. Isuke Takakura, the president of the parishioner, said, "I am very grateful that I was able to rebuild the shrine 10 years after the earthquake. In the future, I will hold festivals and events once a year while handing over this shrine to young people. I want to go. "
