“Yes Judo” is the best performance at the Iraq Theater Festival

The show “Yes Godo” (Yas Godo) by the Impossible Theater Company in Baghdad won the award for the best theatrical performance at the Iraq National Theater Festival, which came to an end the day before yesterday.

The play was prepared and directed by Anas Abdel Samad, starring Mohamed Omar, Sadiq Abdel Reda, Al Yasar Al Rabie and Fatima Abu Haroun, and it is based on the text “Waiting for Godot” by Irish writer Samuel Beckett.

The play also won the best director award at the festival, which was held for a week at the theaters of Semiramis, An-Najah and the Artists Syndicate.

He won the Best Actor award in the first role, Muhammad Hashem, for his role in the play “The Home,” produced by Dream Art Production, while Al Abdullah won the Best Actress award in a first role for her role in the play “It Happened Every Time.”

The jury awarded the award for the best actor in a second role to Naji Hassan for his role in the play “The Division, Macbeth,” while Razab Ahmed won the award for the best actress in a second role for her role in the same play.

The award for music composition and sound effects went to theatrical performance “Clash” by the College of Fine Arts in Basra, while the play “The Division Macbeth” by the National Acting Troupe won the Scenography award, and the play “Meet Matt” won the award for best theatrical script.

The Theater Critics Association awarded its prize to the play "Meet Matt", written and directed by Ali Abdulnabi Al-Zaidi.

The first session of the festival, which was held in cooperation between the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and the Arab Theater Authority, bore the name of the Iraqi writer, actor and director Sami Abdel Hamid, and was held under the slogan "Theater is life."
