Going to the cinema is no fun for the deaf, the films shown with written explanations of the events are limited in number, and often the glasses and special equipment needed to read them are broken or unavailable.

However, the movie "CODA", which revolves around a single hearing individual in a deaf family, will change this situation when it is shown with an explanation of the events that does not require special equipment in theaters in the United States, Britain and the Internet.

"The film breaks new ground in supporting the deaf and hard of hearing community," said Marley Matlin, who plays the deaf mother in the film, and Matlin is the only deaf actress to win an Oscar when she won Best Actress in 1987.

Koda takes its name from the English initials for words meaning “son of deaf adults.”

The film won four awards at the Sundance Film Festival this year, and will be shown on Apple TV + with an explanation of the events, starting next Friday.

Apple has cooperated with those in charge of managing cinemas to ensure that the film is shown everywhere with the printed explanation, in what is believed to be the first movie of its kind to be released in cinemas with this feature.

"This is a historic event, a huge thing for all of us, this is a day we've been waiting to see for so many years," said Daniel Durant, the deaf actor who plays son Leo.

The movie "Coda" tells the story of Ruby, a high school student, whose mission as she was growing up was to explain everything to her father, mother and brother, all of whom are deaf, in different situations, from a doctor's visit to the family's small fishing activity.

Family members interact with sign language, and deaf actors play the roles of the three protagonists in the film.
