Seven men have been sentenced to several years in prison for their involvement in a large online drug shop.

On Friday, the district court of Giessen pronounced the defendants, including the initiator from the Munich district, guilty of having worked in various functions for the "Chemical Revolution" platform, which is operated on the Internet and anonymous Darknet.

Investigators shut down the shop in 2019, calling it the largest of its kind in Germany.

According to the court ruling, kilos of narcotics such as amphetamine, cannabis or cocaine and ecstasy were brought from the Netherlands to Germany from autumn 2017.

The goods were transported to various locations across Germany, including Ortenberg in Hesse, and then sent to customers.

Most of the accused had admitted the allegations.

Among other things, for some of them it was about "gang-like illicit trading with narcotics in not small quantities".

The court imposed terms of between two years and eight months and nine years and two months for the main defendant.

In addition, after a certain period of time in custody, he is to be placed in a detention center.
