The extension of the health pass in hospitals is far from unanimous.

The Constitutional Council must decide this Thursday whether or not people going to the hospital to receive treatment (except emergency) or to accompany a patient must be provided with a valid health pass, as currently provided for in the new law.

For Professor Karine Lacombe, head of the infectious diseases hospital service at Saint-Antoine hospital in Paris, this obligation "would be akin to a refusal of care".

"We, caregivers, are obviously opposed to access to care being conditioned by the health pass, whether access to care is urgent or not," she said Thursday on France Inter, convinced that "it does not cannot be accepted by the Constitutional Council ”.

"We cannot ask for the health pass from patients who are treated for chronic illness," she cited as an example.

The difficult application of a vaccination obligation

Asked about the advisability of making vaccination compulsory for all, Professor Lacombe judged that it "must be discussed if ever, despite the health past, we cannot contain the epidemic".

"It is true that going through a vaccination obligation could solve the problem", nevertheless, "the problem of a vaccination obligation is its application.

How to control the vaccine obligation?

She asked.

She observed that compulsory vaccines in France "are vaccines administered during childhood, we have an easy way to control because they allow you to go to school".

"When you're an adult, it's much more difficult to control a generalized vaccination obligation," she noted.

The second extension of the health pass expected in a few days

The first measures necessitating the "health pass" (total vaccination, negative Covid-19 test or certificate of recovery) to access places accommodating at least 50 people (museums, performance halls, sports establishments, amusement parks, etc.) ), came into force on July 21.

These measures must extend to coffee shops, fairs and exhibitions, planes, trains and long-distance coaches, as well as to medical establishments from Monday, after the decision of the Constitutional Council expected Thursday.
