The government will put in place a system allowing vaccinated tourists outside the European Union to obtain a health pass, announced Thursday the Secretary of State for Tourism Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.

"Our goal is that from August 9 these tourists present on national soil can obtain passes on the same model as the French living outside France", he declared on France Inter.

"We are setting up a dedicated scalable system that will ramp up to meet these demands," he added without giving further details.

Since Monday, the government has put in place a system so that French expatriates living outside the European Union and vaccinated abroad "with vaccines recognized by the European Medicines Agency" can obtain a special health pass.

The opinion of the Constitutional Council on the health bill is expected this Thursday afternoon and the extension of the health pass to cafes, restaurants, fairs, trade shows, air travel or long train journeys is scheduled for Monday.

"We will welcome international students"

In addition, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne wished to reassure foreign students by announcing that "the principle is established that we will welcome international students who are registered in the establishments".

"We will announce in the coming days the practical modalities that will allow them to come," he added.
