During the summer, Adlibris sent out an email announcing that anyone who wants to sell their books through them will need an external distributor.

"If you choose not to enter into an agreement with a distributor, our cooperation will cease, which means that your books will no longer be available on our website from 1/9 2021.", Adlibris wrote in his email to the publishers.

Now the company is backing down after extensive criticism.

- We sent out this email two months ago.

More than half have not responded so we have not started a dialogue with them.

Therefore, we must be more listening, says Elias Vieglins, PR manager for Adlibris to Kulturnyheterna.

"We must start a dialogue"

The requirement for an external distributor was criticized from several quarters as it could mean an impossible cost for the smaller publishers.

According to critics, the requirement may lead to the availability of, for example, Sami literature and that those who work at the country's library may do the job that Adlibris has previously done.

- We will definitely not remove any publishers from our website, but we must initiate a dialogue with each publisher on how we can improve distribution, says Elias Vieglins.
