Volunteers from Tokyo, who have lost their planned activities due to the Tokyo Olympics becoming unattended in Tokyo, are seeing off overseas athletes returning to Japan.

"Urban volunteers" in Tokyo are doing alternative activities such as coordinating with the city, as activities such as spectator guidance have disappeared because the Olympic Games have become unattended in Tokyo.

Of these, since the beginning of this month, we have begun activities to see off overseas athletes and tournament officials returning home after the competition at Haneda Airport.

Volunteers wear matching uniforms and line up in the departure lobby, waving their hands and saying "Thank you" in English when the players show up.

From the middle of this month, when the entry into the Paralympic Games is in full swing, we are planning activities to welcome athletes this time.

The city says, "Although the activities have changed, I think we were able to deliver hospitality directly to the athletes. We would like to secure opportunities for more volunteers to participate in alternative activities."
