Two men suspected of having deliberately knocked down and seriously injured a teenager on Tuesday in Villemandeur (Loiret) were arrested, Montargis public prosecutor Loïc Abrial announced on Wednesday.

"The investigations conducted by the Territorial Directorate of the Judicial Police (DTPJ) of Orléans made it possible to identify the two occupants of the offending vehicle and to arrest them", writes the magistrate in a press release.

A victim still in intensive care

The two men, aged 27 and 25, "are currently in custody for attempted homicide", the prosecution continues.

"The opening of judicial information at the criminal center of Orléans is envisaged at the end of the custody measures", specifies Loïc Abrial.

On Wednesday evening, the 17-year-old victim was still in intensive care at the Orléans Regional Hospital Center.

His vital prognosis remained engaged according to the magistrate.

Tuesday morning, while the victim was driving on the sidewalk, she was hit by a van, according to the prosecution.

According to police sources, the driver and passenger got out of the vehicle, armed with an iron bar, before fleeing without hitting the victim.
