The fifth wave of the coronavirus is slowly subsiding.

The data provided this Wednesday by Health puts the cumulative incidence at 633.07 cases per 100,000 inhabitants during the last 14 days throughout the Spanish territory.

24 hours earlier it was at 653.81 and last Wednesday, a week ago, at 699.8.

This downward trend will continue in the coming days according to the evolution of the seven-day incidence, which goes from 280.63 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on Tuesday to 265.78 this afternoon.

Health also reports 21,874 new cases of coronavirus, compared to 20,327 on Tuesday and 27,149 a week ago.

With them, the number of infected with a confirmed diagnosis in Spain rises to 4,545,184 people.

This Wednesday's statistics incorporates 71 new deaths from Covid-19, compared to 70 last Wednesday.

According to official data, there are already 81,844 deaths from the pandemic.

The decrease in the spread has not yet been transferred to hospitals, where there is a slight reduction in those admitted by Covid, which go from 10,317 on Tuesday to 10,184 on Wednesday.

On the contrary, patients admitted to Intensive Care continue to increase: in the last 24 hours they have gone from 1,867 to 1,904, which represents 20.7% of the beds in these units.
