Contagions What happens when you get Covid while being vaccinated?
Fifth wave More than 10,500 admitted by Covid-19, the same as at the beginning of October
The latest data offered by Health continue to invite moderate optimism.
This Tuesday,
20,327 new cases of coronavirus
have been reported
(6,000 less than seven days ago) and a cumulative incidence (AI) of 653.81 cases per 100,000 inhabitants
during the last 14 days throughout Spain (20 points less than on Monday, and 48 less than a week ago).
The seven-day incidence indicator, useful for detecting rapid trend changes, also evolves positively: it stands at 280.63, a figure 11 points lower than that of Monday.
These reductions are the result, above all, of the decrease in transmission among young people.
In the previous weeks there had been an explosion of cases between the ages of 12 and 39, but the AI of that segment of the population has not stopped falling in recent days.
Between 20 and 29 years old, the most affected age group, the indicator stands at 1,559.00 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, after dropping 67 points in one day and 300 compared to Tuesday of last week. A similar trend is observed between 12 and 19 years of age, whose AI drops 48 points in 24 hours and 169 in seven days to 1,468.62. Between 30 and 39 the score also decreases to 784.91.
The advance of vaccination among young people, together with the tightening of some measures and individual responsibility, seems to be bearing fruit. However, the figures are still very worrying. By communities
, the most affected territories are the Balearic Islands (915.97 of IA), Navarra (789.02), Catalonia (768.64), La Rioja (751.45) and Aragon (747.71)
. On the other hand, Melilla (288.25), Ceuta (298.09), Asturias (462.81) and Castilla-La Mancha (471.93) maintain the most positive incidence data in the country.
But the updated statistics for this Tuesday incorporates
130 more deaths from Covid, a number well above the 147 (corresponding to three days) on Monday and 55 a week ago
.
The global number of deceased with a confirmed diagnosis adds up to 81,773 people.
280 of these deaths have occurred in the last week.
The total hospital pressure drops slightly compared to Monday;
however, the Intensive Care Units (ICU) are becoming more crowded.
With 10,317 people admitted throughout the country, the occupation decreased to 8.69% (261 patients and 0.21 percentage points less than the previous day), but in ICU it increased to 20.40% (0.38 points more than 24 hours earlier), with 1,867 patients in serious condition.
The communities with the most saturated ICUs are Catalonia (47.21%), Madrid (28.17%), the Balearic Islands (25.78%), the Canary Islands (19.80%) and Aragon (19.72%). On the opposite side, the most relaxed are Extremadura (5.85%), Melilla (5.88%), Murcia (6.26%) and Galicia (6.50%). But it must be taken into account that these figures only correspond to the occupation of beds by Covid patients. To calculate the total occupancy, it is necessary to add those patients who are admitted for other pathologies and surgeries.
The decrease in AI in Spain (653.81) is not enough to stop being the European leader in transmission
.
The United Kingdom, second in IA, also fell to 644.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and despite relaxing anticovid measures;
as well as the Netherlands (400.7) and Portugal (385.2), next in the ranking.
The countries in the best situation are Poland (4.3), Romania (8.4) and Germany (33.1).
