The seven-day incidence of the coronavirus has been increasing for around four weeks.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) this Wednesday morning, it is now 18.5 nationwide.

The previous day the value was 17.9, on the Wednesday of the previous week it was 15.0.

The health authorities in Germany reported 3571 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

A week ago, the value was 2768 infections within 24 hours.

The incidence has so far been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June.

In the future, other values such as hospital admissions are to be taken more into account.

25 new deaths

According to the new information, 25 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 21 deaths.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with the Sars-CoV-2 virus rose to 91,704.

The RKI has counted 3,777,446 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,659,900.

Teachers' Association: Do not treat unvaccinated children differently

The German teachers' association warned against different treatment of vaccinated and non-vaccinated children in schools.

"Basically, we are against unequal treatment of vaccinated and unvaccinated children in everyday school life, at least as long as not all children have received a vaccination offer," said association boss Heinz-Peter Meidinger of the Rheinische Post.

However, he considers different quarantine regulations within a class to be conceivable: "What would be possible is that health authorities may order other, shorter or no quarantine measures in the case of infections in vaccinated classmates."

The head of the General Practitioners Association, Ulrich Weigeldt, called on the federal states to enable all families to start school safely after the summer holidays - including unvaccinated children and adolescents.

“One thing has to be clear: Under no circumstances should there be only the two options 'vaccination' or 'homeschooling',” Weigeldt told the “Rheinische Post”.

In the coming weeks, a lot more inquiries from unsettled parents can be expected in the doctor’s practices.

“So far, we have not received any feedback about an onslaught of families wanting advice.

But the demand will certainly increase, also due to the discrepancy in the public discussion, ”he said.

The federal and state health ministers decided on Monday evening to give adolescents from the age of twelve a wide range of corona vaccinations in medical practices, vaccination centers and schools. The Stiko recommends vaccination for 12 to 17 year olds only if there are particular risks.
