The world record in team pursuit had stood before the Tokyo Olympics since the 2016 Olympic final, when the British team took gold in the time of 4.10,236.
But when the velodrome competitions started yesterday, that record was quickly erased.
For already in the qualifiers of the team persecution, the German team, consisting of of Franziska Brausse, Lisa Brennauer, Lisa Klein and Mieke Kröger hit with the time 4.07,307
Over a second record in the semi
And when the competition today went on with the semifinals and finals, it was time again.
In the semifinals, the Germans cycled to the finish line in the time of 4.06,159, and thus polished yesterday's record by more than a second.
And in the final, a little later on Tuesday, they did it again.
The Germans' time then was 4.04,242 - almost two seconds faster than the semifinal time.
The margin of victory down to Great Britain was over six seconds.
