[Global Times Comprehensive Report] The Hong Kong epidemic has eased, and the SAR government held a press conference on August 2 to announce the latest anti-epidemic and anti-epidemic measures.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam said at a press conference that the vaccination plan has been over 5 months, and the current vaccination rate is less than half. Among them, the vaccination rate for civil servants is 70% and that for HA staff is 67%.

She revealed that the SAR government will extend measures that require vaccination or self-finance testing to other groups, including civil servants, government employees, staff of the Hospital Authority, employees of nursing homes, and employees of middle schools, primary schools and kindergartens.

When asked whether the relevant measures are equivalent to forcing civil servants to vaccinate, Lam Cheng emphasized that Hong Kong’s policy is already moderate, and Western countries also have tough measures to require people to be vaccinated.

The Secretary for Education, Yang Runxiong, revealed that 47% of the faculty and staff have been vaccinated or scheduled to be vaccinated; as for students over 12 years old, 40% have been vaccinated or are considering vaccinating.

In the new school year, face-to-face teaching will continue on a half-day basis. If the faculty directly hired by the school and the entire school’s students have completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccination and the number of vaccinations exceeds 70%, the bureau will allow full-time face-to-face courses to be resumed according to actual conditions. School lunch or other extracurricular activities, etc.
