In France, 125 people died as a result of domestic violence in 2020. These figures reveal a disparity between the genders.

Of the 125 deaths recorded, 102 are women and 82% of the perpetrators are men.

The dysfunctions in the treatment of these feminicides by the government were strongly criticized by associations for the rights of women, insofar as 67% of the victims had already reported the violence to the police and 18% of them had filed a complaint.

In reaction, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced various measures: prioritizing the processing of complaints for domestic violence must thus become the norm in police stations, as must the presence of a reference officer trained in these issues.

But this is still not enough, according to feminist associations.
