In response to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus infection, some university students living in dormitories in Tokyo are reconsidering their return home during the summer vacation.

At the student dormitory "Matsubo Gakusha" in Koganei, Tokyo, 34 male university students from Saga and Fukuoka prefectures live away from their parents.

In the dormitory, few students returned home during the summer vacation due to the influence of the new coronavirus last year, but it is said that more than 60% planned to return home this summer.

However, as the infection spreads rapidly, some students are considering canceling or postponing their return home.

At the dormitory, on the morning of the 2nd, the dormitory mother explained to the students that at the National Governors' Association on the 1st, a proposal was made to the government to call for the cancellation or postponement of the principle of movement across prefectures during the summer vacation.

Yoshin Ueno (20), a second-year college student who received the explanation, bought an airline ticket two weeks ago to return to his hometown of Fukuoka, but now he is wondering whether to return home. ..

My parents in their 50s had not been vaccinated, and on the 31st, my father contacted me to be careful about my behavior and take a PCR test two weeks before returning home.

Mr. Ueno said, "Students are being asked to refrain from going home during the New Year holidays and Obon festival, and the chances of going home are decreasing. It's hard to go home because I think you can see it at. "

On the other hand, Satoshi Ono (22), a fourth-year student, has not been able to decide when to return home due to the spread of the infection.

If I go home, I would like to do it after completing the PCR test or vaccination.

Mr. Ono said, "I can understand that there is a call to stop returning home by looking at the infection situation." On the other hand, "I am convinced in my heart when I see the Olympic Games being held and exciting. I can't do it, and I feel it's a double standard. "

In this dormitory, we are calling for you to consider postponing or canceling your return home, or if you need to do something important, take a PCR test before returning home.

Makoto Iwahashi, the dormitory manager, said, "Students want to go home and look good. I would like to consult with them about PCR tests."
