, Egypt was unable to create a surprise.
Opposed to the reigning Olympic champions Brazilians, the Egyptians lost in the quarter-finals at Saitama stadium (1-0).
Dominated, the Pharaohs logically cracked before half-time: Everton striker Richarlison fixed on the left side before serving at the entrance to the area Matheus Cunha who deceived the goalkeeper with a cross shot (1-0 , 37th).

The Egyptians, weaned from the ball, only managed to be dangerous at the end of the match but came up against a solid Brazilian defense.
After holding Spain in check, losing against Argentina and winning against Australia in the group stage, Egypt therefore stops in the quarter-finals as it did during its last participation in the Olympic Games, in 2012.
There will be no African team in the last four of the Olympics.
