Altun Mountain National Nature Reserve is located in the southeastern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located in Ruoqiang County and Qiemo County of Bayingoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture at the junction of Xinjiang, Qinghai, and Tibet. It covers an area of about 45,000 square kilometers.
