According to the latest figures published by INSEE, of the 736,000 babies born in 2020 in France, the first names Jade and Léo are now popular with the French.

Among girls, the first name Jade was given to 3,814 babies in 2020. “Louise” is behind her in second place (3,811) but could take the lead if we add the “Louïse” with “ï” (12). , followed by the first name Emma which therefore tumbles to 3rd place (3,478 births) and the first name Alice (2,987 births).

On the boys' side, the first name Léo comes first, with 4,496 children so called in 2020, and is therefore ahead of Gabriel (4,415 births), Raphaël (3,970 births) and Arthur (3,800 births).

Short names are still popular

As in previous years, there is an increase in short names, with one or two syllables, especially among girls with first names like “Mia”, “Lina”, or “Léa”.

Very trendy also, the first names of the children of "stars".

Milann, the first name given by influencer and reality TV star Nabilla to her son, has jumped 190 places.

On the other hand, after two years in the top ranking, the first name Kylian, in reference to the famous striker of the French football team, loses 30 places to reach the 103rd position.
