The captain of farmers in Egypt warns: Donkeys are on the way to extinction..and this is how we distinguish their meat

The head of the Farmers Syndicate in Egypt, Hussein Abdel Rahman Abu Saddam, warned that donkeys are on their way to extinction.

Abdul Rahman added that with the low prices of donkeys and the increase in the prices of their skins, some people tended to slaughter them to take advantage of the high prices of their skins, export them outside the country and sell their meat to feed the animals.

He pointed out, according to "Al-Masry Al-Youm", that some of the weak-willed were selling donkey meat to people and restaurants as cattle meat to take advantage of the high prices of livestock meat and the low prices of donkeys, and many of these were arrested, explaining that donkey meat has a dark red color that turns blue and its fat does not freeze and hard. Cut it and it smells bad when cooked.

Abu Saddam explained that the International Federation of Veterinarians recently warned of the possibility of the extinction of donkeys in the continent of Africa due to the desire of some to slaughter them for the price of their skins and the manufacture of cosmetics and some medicines.

He called for an international action against this phenomenon before the donkey's bray disappears, explaining that the extinction of donkeys will upset the ecological balance, as the donkey is a useful means of transportation for nature and benefit from its dung as a natural fertilizer, and is an important link in the ecological balance.

He also called on the Egyptian government to combat the slaughter of donkeys and export their skins, and to punish those who market their meat in local markets with deterrent punishment, noting that the number of donkeys reaches 44 million donkeys in the world, of which about 1.8 million are in Egypt.
