Galicia reaffirms its commitment to the Covid passport and will not change its health policy despite the fact that the Canary Islands Justice has dropped its demand and the Ministry of Health has been against the measure. It will continue to be an essential requirement to access the interior of the hotel industry in those areas of the community with the worst evolution of the virus because "it is the alternative that the Xunta de Galicia found arising from the continuous dialogue with the representatives of the sector".

From the Ministry of Health they explain to EL MUNDO that it is the most suitable alternative "by allowing them to reconcile health security with their economic activity" and they acknowledge that they do not have a plan B. If justice were to overturn its validity,

"it would be necessary to return to the previous measures ", a situation that" would lead to the closure of the indoor catering industry "

in those municipalities with the highest and highest levels of restrictions.

With the current measures, in the municipalities with the worst evolution, only customers who present a negative PCR or antigen test in the last 72 hours, who prove that they have passed the disease or who have a complete schedule vaccination certificate. In case of returning to the previous situation, in the municipalities with greater risk they could only open the terraces.

The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, defended his convenience this Friday during the Conference of Presidents in Salamanca, in which he

called attention to the "contradiction" that the Covid passport or negative PCR test is required to access to this meeting of all the regional presidents

and, nevertheless, this "sanitary security" is not offered to the citizens to access the premises of hospitality.

Feijóo advocated seeking a "common position" regarding the usefulness of vaccination certificates and demanded from the Government of Pedro Sánchez an application to "guarantee a safe, useful and effective use of the certificate."

The certificate began to be requested in Galicia at the beginning of July to access nightlife and from Saturday 24 it is also mandatory to enter the interior of the hospitality premises of the municipalities at a high level and maximum restrictions, sixty from this end weekdays, including the seven large cities, where 65% of the Galician population lives.

These measures also apply to the celebrations of weddings, communions or other types of events in these municipalities of high and maximum level and

affect the entire population except those under 12 years of age

, who are exempt.

In these municipalities with the worst epidemiological situation, nightlife is not required because it is closed.

Faced with the requirement of this Covid passport, the Galician Government has redoubled efforts to encourage the population to have access to the necessary documentation that guarantees security in the hospitality industry. Thus, fixed and mobile screening points have been promoted, both with and without self-appointment, so that antigen tests can be carried out on a massive scale.

In addition, it has signed an agreement with the Official Associations of Pharmacists of Galicia so that the adhered pharmacy offices can accredit the validity of the results of the self-tests and integrate their results in the records of the public health system and for the pharmacies to issue documents Proof of negative result when the sample is taken in the office itself, and under the advice of the pharmacist staff. These documents

will be issued free of charge, and will be valid to be presented in those restricted activities

within the community.

The Galician Executive has also made available to the public service points to resolve administrative matters related to covid-19, such as: printing of certificates of diagnostic tests, vaccination or disease passed;

activation of the '365 key' system;

or the processing of a quick registration in the Galician system in the case of people living outside the community.

Judicial support

The Xunta requested judicial support for another of its measures and it succeeded.

It is about limiting the number of people who can meet in public or private spaces, a maximum of six indoors and ten outdoors, and the prohibition of encounters with non-partners between three and six in the morning.

The Superior Court of Xustiza de Galicia (TSXG) authorized these restrictions this Friday, understanding that "they

respond to a clear situation of increase in the virus

" and that "they do not have a significant impact" on the right of assembly, most in need of control in the evening hours, frequented to a greater extent by young people, more prone to social contact.

The measures are, according to the third section of the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Galician High Court, "necessary and proportionate", since the figures provided by the Ministry of Health reveal "a worrying increase in the transmission of the infection."

Thus, the report prepared by the Xunta reflects that the cumulative incidence at seven and 14 days was 334 and 602 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively, values that are 25% and 55% higher than those of a week ago.
