It is eagerly awaited every year.

The back-to-school allowance (ARS), which helps parents with modest incomes to pay for school bags and other supplies, will be paid on August 3 in Mayotte and Réunion and on August 17 in other overseas departments and in metropolitan France, announced on Friday. the Ministry of Solidarity.

"About 3 million families, which represents 5 million children", will receive this aid in the coming weeks, indicate in a press release Olivier Véran, Minister of Solidarity and Health, and Adrien Taquet, Secretary of State in charge. of Childhood and Families.

Between 370.31 euros and 404.28 euros

“The back-to-school allowance provides support to these families at a time when they have to face a peak in expenditure on the occasion of the start of the school year,” they say.

Assigned subject to conditions of resources, the ARS amounts this year to 370.31 euros for children aged 6 to 10 years, 390.74 euros for children from 11 to 14 years old, and 404.28 euros for adolescents of 15 to 18 years old.

In Mayotte, these amounts are increased by around two euros.

Parents with modest incomes (less than 25,319 euros per year for a dependent child, 31,162 euros for two dependent children, 37,005 euros for three children), and whose children aged 6 to 18 are in school or in apprenticeship in a public establishment or private, can claim it.

In Mayotte, other resource ceilings apply.

"When the family's resources slightly exceed the ceiling, it then benefits from a back-to-school allowance at a reduced rate, decreasing according to its income," he added in the press release.

At the start of the last school year, the government “exceptionally” increased this aid by 100 euros to enable families to cope with the “social consequences” of the first year of the health crisis in France.
