The China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center announced on the evening of the 28th that the center’s giant panda "Mei Qian" had a cub at the Walnut Pingji Estate in Wolong at 11:48 am on July 27.

The mother and child are safe and stable after delivery.

According to reports, in March this year, the giant panda "Mei Qian" entered the estrus period and successfully completed natural mating. In late June, pregnancy behaviors such as reduced food and increased activity occurred. On the evening of July 26, a labor response appeared. The cub was born smoothly at 11:48 on the same day.

Upon inspection, the cub is female, weighing 249 grams, which has created a new record for the heaviest birth weight of a giant panda cub in captivity in the world.
