When asked about her passion for sports, Nawal Bayrakdar, a 77-year-old physical training coach, replied, "I never quit sports."

Bayraktar runs between aerobics lessons, giving 12 lessons a week, and says that exercise is not only beneficial for her physical health, but is especially beneficial for her mental health, after her five children left Syria and left her alone.

After training in several gyms for 35 years, Nawal was able to open her own gym, "Umm Ammar Bayrakdar Club" 15 years ago, which serves women in her city of Salamiyah on the outskirts of Homs.

And she says that exercise cures all diseases, “a 100% cure for everything.”

The club is attended by 50 women of different age groups six days a week, not only to train to increase their physical fitness, but also to learn about the benefits of sports from Nawal, an avid reader of sports books and the author of her own book entitled “Sports from cradle to grave”.

It seems that her age and her passion for sports are what attract women to her classes.

The subscription fee to the Bayraktar Club is a symbolic 3,500 lira ($1.2) per month, as it prefers to encourage women to exercise in order to achieve more profits.

In addition to being a sports coach at this age, Nawal leads a rich life in which she practices many activities such as cooking, reading and meeting neighbors and friends.
