He steals 3 million euros of jewelry with a "scooter"

Yesterday, a man robbed a jewelry store belonging to the prestigious "Chumet" house near the Champs-Elysees avenue in Paris, and succeeded in stealing jewelry worth between two and three million euros, according to a source familiar with the file.

The source pointed out that the thief, who arrived at the place on a scooter, stormed the store at about five o'clock in the afternoon, armed with a pistol, and then seized jewelry and precious stones, without any violence, before leaving the place also on a scooter.

The Public Prosecution Office in Paris confirmed to AFP that an investigation had been opened into the incident on charges of armed robbery, while the anti-gang unit was tasked with investigations.

The shop that was burgled is located on Avenue Francois I, near the Champs Elysees.

Chaumet is best known worldwide for its historic store in Place Vendôme, which was subjected to a burglary in 2009 that resulted in the theft of gems worth 1.9 million euros.
