The Zambians were doomed to the feat against Marta's Brazil. But there was no miracle and they lost 1-0. With a first heavy defeat against the Netherlands (10-3) then a draw against China (4-4), Zambia ultimately has two defeats in the group stage. The African representative leaves the tournament, after the latter face to face.
The young Zambian captain, Barbra Banda (21), did not have the opportunity to find the paths of the net for Cooper Queens.
After her hat-trick against the Dutch, the Shanghai striker Shengli, in China, had another three goals against the Chinese (42nd, 47th, 69th).
In the history of the Games, no player has achieved such a performance.
Today, Brazil's Andressa scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute.
Marta, 35, who became the first player in history to score in five different Olympic Games (thanks to her brace against China on July 21) remained silent against the Zambians.
