Stephen Harmon

, a denialist who laughed at vaccines and called the breathed "stupid," has died of coronavirus in California

after battling the disease for a month.

Stephen Harmon, a member of the Hillsong megachurch, the BBC reports, had openly opposed vaccines, making a series of jokes related to

not having been vaccinated.

"I have 99 problems, but the vaccine is not one of them," the 34-year-old man tweeted to his 7,000 followers last June a few days before becoming infected.

The hospital outside Los Angeles where he died last Wednesday treated him for

pneumonia and Covid-19.

During his stay in the hospital, Harmon's views were very different.

In the days leading up to his death, Harmon documented his struggle to stay alive, posting photos of himself in the hospital bed.

In his last tweet on Wednesday, Harmon said that he

had decided to undergo intubation

.

"I don't know when I'll wake up,

please pray,

" he wrote.

Despite being sick with

Covid

, Harmon went on to say that he

would again refuse to be vaccinated

, saying that his religion would protect him.

Before his death, he had joked about the pandemic and vaccines

,

sharing memes and saying that he trusted the Bible more than America's disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Hillsong founder Brian Houston confirmed the news of his death in a tweet last Thursday.

"Ben just passed us the devastating news that our dear friend, Stephen Harmon, passed away from

Covid

. It's heartbreaking," you can read.
