The song of the Lebanese artist Wael Kfoury, “The Strong Girl,” aroused great success, but this success, which was embodied in two million views and more, provoked greater controversy, specifically the song’s melodies, which seemed to be identical to the song “Sugar” by the Syrian artist Karam Salibi.

Salibi, for his part, is the one who raised the controversy about his song “Sukar”, and the extent of its similarity with the Kfoury song, but the blame here falls on the owner of the melody, Salim Assaf. The artist usually chooses the song with its composer without checking the source of its melody, but this does not prevent some people from knowing that a song Its rights to this or that artist, and pushes the parties to the legal dispute.

The song dates back to 2019, that is, before the release of the song “The Strong Girl” this summer, and the similarity reached the point of congruence, amid questions from the song’s owner if she was really risking ideas.

Salibi told one of the local Lebanese art sites: "The melody is very similar, wondering if the topic was "telepathy" or "artistic theft", and he said: "You may be really taking risks, but you will take more risks... and I wanted to download the topic as a story, not more."

In the same statement, Salibi indicated that he could not be certain about the artistic theft, and that the issue might be only telepathy. He said: “I mean, what would he like to introduce him to my song, but even the words are similar to each other, my song is called Sukar, and the strong girl’s song carries the sentence Sugar on Jam.”

The composer Salim Assaf had referred, in a television interview, to the sentence “sugar on jam” that appeared in the song that Kfoury sang. Me and her side is not reasonable.”

Karam Salibi has not achieved wide artistic fame, but he belongs to a famous artistic family, his father is the artist Maher Salibi, and his mother is Yara Sabry, the daughter of Salim Sabry and Thana Debsy.

The artist, Wael Kfoury, did not issue a comment about the controversy raised by the owner of the similar melody with his song, which became the trend of songs this summer, in restaurants, and cars.
