Ten deaths in just over a month. "The fever spurt" evoked for

by Eric Arella, the director of the judicial police (PJ) for the southern zone, continues to rise. After the three homicides that occurred in the northern districts this weekend, where settling of scores under drug trafficking is again inevitably suspected, the members of the Too Young to Die collective, calls on the public authorities to take strong measures to Marseilles.

"Three homicides in a weekend, it is, I believe unheard of," alarmed Hassen Hammou, founder of the collective created in 2016, annus horribilis with 27 settlements, after one of his relatives fell under murderous bullets.

"Our collective asks the regional prefect Christophe Mirman, the establishment of a curfew suitable from 9 pm on the four districts of the north of the city of Marseille [13th, 14th, 15th, 16th]", continues- he.

"A shock measure to alert residents and public authorities", he admits while eight "rules" have been formally identified as such by the police for the year 2021, before the deaths of this weekend.

"The safety of the inhabitants is no longer guaranteed"

In addition, he also asks "for additional police resources until the end of the summer and the reception of a delegation of residents in the prefecture". This speech comes “after having spoken with a few mothers and residents for whom we are the only interlocutors. Just yesterday, I got yelled at by one of them. So we try to make proposals, ”explains Hassen Hammou.

The current macabre dynamic can be explained by the settlement of "an old dispute" between rival clans.

The fire under these embers has resumed, fanned by a deadly triptych.

"Outings from prison, young people with long teeth and betrayals", explained Eric Arella.

"The safety of the inhabitants is no longer guaranteed", continues Hassen Hammou.

"After each police operation, the pressure is on the inhabitants so that they do not speak".

And to add: “Today, people are no longer afraid to settle their scores.

The judicial police, however, have elucidated in recent years nearly 50% of these settlements, a rate higher than the national average, recalled the director of the PJ.

But Hassen Hammou, he fears that a young person is the victim of a stray bullet "like the 17-year-old girl killed in the back of a car in early July".

For him, the idea of this "curfew" coupled with additional resources would allow better control of who circulates between the cities of the northern districts, the scene of these repeated settling of scores.
