The tidal flats of Korea, a treasure trove of rare species, including 2,150 species of endangered migratory birds, have become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The 44th World Heritage Committee, which is being held online and in parallel in Fuzhou, China, registered Korea's tidal flats as a natural heritage among the World Heritage sites today (26th).

Korea's tidal flats are the heritage of four tidal flats: Seocheon, Chungcheongnam-do, Gochang, Jeonbuk, Sinan, Jeollanam-do, and Boseong and Suncheon, Jeollanam-do.

With the inscription of tidal flats in Korea, the number of World Heritage sites held by Korea has increased to 15.
