The government has begun releasing a new PR video featuring popular voice actors in an attempt to help young people apply for the Individual Number Card.
The government PR video was released on the video posting site "YouTube" on the 20th of this month.
In the video, voice actor Kana Hanazawa, who is popular with young people, plays five roles and explains the merits of My Number Card and how to apply.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the point redemption system for up to 5,000 yen was available for card applications, and in March this was a record high of 6.86 million in a month.
However, the number of applications for using the system has continued to decrease to 600,000 in May and 450,000 last month, and the number of applications so far has reached more than 50 million.
For this reason, the government says, "We would like to strengthen the appeal for applications by changing the PR method for each generation."
