Chimpanzee kills and eats a gorilla

A chimpanzee killed a gorilla in Luango National Park in Gabon, Africa, the New York Post reported.

The newspaper added that researchers from the University of Osnabrück and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany, who are affiliated with Luangwu National Park, watched the chimpanzees attack the gorillas, adding that at first, they only noticed the screaming of the chimpanzees and thought it was a typical meeting between the two species, but then they realized that the chimpanzees are attacking Gorilla and her baby.

Scientists added that the mother gorilla managed to escape, but the infant, which was separated from its mother, was unable to attack the chimpanzees.

A similar attack in February 2019 also killed an infant gorilla, the researchers said, but this time, instead of leaving the killed gorilla alone, the adult female chimpanzee ate the infant almost entirely.
